In late March Google introduce their Cloud Text-to-Speech product (https:// cloud.google.com/text-to-speech/) and my immediate reaction was "can I use this for SvxLink" I have custom sensors on my repeaters and have needed custom sound files for some time. Recording my own announcements has worked but Google Cloud TTS provides a much better way forward. I originally hacked up a quick proof of concept and have been using the resulting files on four systems since last May. This week I finally took the time to clean them up and place them on GitHub. Check out https://github.com/n7ipb/svxlink-google-tts for the code and associated text files. You do have to have a service account key from Google to access the API. A URL pointing to the instructions on obtaining one is found in the README. For those that don't wish to build their own files I have another repository with sample english Male/Female files that match the current svxlink-sounds-en_US-heather release. The files do not need to be processed by the filter_sounds.sh script and are ready to use. Just place them in your svxlink/sounds directory. You can download them at https://github.com/ n7ipb/SvxLink_TTS_Sounds There are 32 different voices from 12 languages available and selected via a config file. The config file allows selecting the language/voice as well as the pitch and rate. Another as yet untested feature is the ability to specify that the starting text files are in Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML). This should allow for fine tuning the results and improving the handling of pauses, acronyms, dates, times, abbreviations etc. Any comments, suggestions, improvements welcome. Just email me or enter an Issue. -- Ken - N7IPB Email: n7...@we... JID: n7...@ja... Marcelo, I think you problem is, you need to route the traffic coming in of port 5198 to the Raspberry pi ? Depending on your router ? its called a port forward, so in a nut shell; 1. assign a fixed IP address to your Raspberry Pi 2. forward the traffic from port 5198 to the IP address of the Raspberry Pi 3. connect to test node 9999 BTW I’m Jerry Hughes AKA “KC6YMP” I’m one of the engineers here at DMK Engineering. I’m on the support group emailing list and I can be reached at: kc...@dm... <mailto:kc...@dm...> I spend 1 hour a day answering question about the AllStarLink and the setup and use of the DMK URI. I will do the same for the SVXLink if the questions are directly related to the setup and use of the DMK URI in the SVXLink network. 73’s and happy hunting KC6YMP - From: Marcelo Roberto Gadotti <gad...@gm...> Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2018 8:22 AM To: svx...@li... This from Tobias gave the pointer: the list is basically defunct. Some other changes remain in the "we have patch, how to get it included" state. But the main problem for now is "how to develop changes in such a way they are accepted" in cases like the issue #132 which can probably be done in different ways. I looked into the software and found svxlink/src/svxlink/trx/LocalRxBase.cpp which has the handling of SQL_DET inside the function LocalRxBase::initialize but that should probably been taken out into a separate function and a separate SQL class should be created that can handle this function in an extra layer. However I have no idea how. Rob |

Since the most things are handled over the issue tracker in github I think. I can not see why allstar audio quality should be better than svxlink's. Could you tell the reason please? I fully agree with Rob when he is worried about the future of SvxLink. It would be very pity if this great project isn't being continued. Since the most things are handled over the issue tracker in github I think. I can not see why allstar audio quality should be better than svxlink's. Could you tell the reason please? I fully agree with Rob when he is worried about the future of SvxLink. It would be very pity if this great project isn't being continued. Hi, Same here in YO, 70 links, 39 actve right now; my colleagues did a great job on a management system but yet we need some issues to be solved on the software side. SVXlink still remains the best option. You can try AllStar, It’s a good repeater system you don’t have to use the node function if you don’t want and the system has echolink too and the audio quality is better then Svxlink. And more importantly there is support and development. It has been a long time since I have seen anything from this mailing list. I am not sure it even works. There apparently is a problem with development. There are many open issues, with no progress. In the past I have tried to contribute but it was a complicated procedure around github that I once completed successfully, but could not repeat later. Just mailing a patch apparently leads to nothing. And more problematic: the design is difficult to understand for newcomers, and/or it is difficult to guess how things should be changed to get the approval for inclusion in a new version. We are running a large repeater system and we are faced with challenges, we have suggested minor improvements to get workarounds, but usually they just remain open. I fully understand this is a hobby project and we cannot expect a commitment from anyone, especially when asking for changes that are mainly for our own benefit only, but at the moment I am feeling that we are working ineffectively and are being held back by the situation. What could be done to change the situation? Anyone with good suggestions? Rob PE1CHL |

Hello! How can I modify the SvxLink code to run multiple ModuleEchoLink? Like as in Qtel... More or less like this: "SimplexLogic-1" => "ModuleEchoLink-1" "SimplexLogic-2" => "ModuleEchoLink-2" => "Proxy-Server-?" Regards, Volodymyr |

Hello, I'm trying to compile Deb packages for Orange Pi - Debian 8. I am confused by several active processes running. Is this normal behavior for the startup script? Or, better to use the old script? :~# systemctl status svxlink ● svxlink.service - SvxLink repeater control software Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/svxlink.service; enabled) Active: active (running) since Sun 2018-05-20 15:51:39 EEST; 10min ago Docs: man:svxlink(1) Process: 643 ExecStartPre=/bin/chown $RUNASUSER /var/log/svxlink (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Process: 621 ExecStartPre=/bin/touch /var/log/svxlink (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Main PID: 679 (sh) CGroup: /system.slice/svxlink.service ├─679 /bin/sh -c /usr/bin/svxlink --logfile=/var/log/svxlink --config=$CFGFILE --pidfile=/run/svxlink.pid --runasuser=$RUNASUSER └─692 /usr/bin/svxlink --logfile=/var/log/svxlink --config=/etc/svxlink/svxlink.conf --pidfile=/run/svxlink.pid --runasuser=svxlink.daemon May 20 15:51:38 orpisvx systemd[1]: Starting SvxLink repeater control software... May 20 15:51:39 orpisvx systemd[1]: Started SvxLink repeater control software. In Htop I see several running processes SvxLink. Also, there was a problem with access to gpio. But, there were no reports of errors. It helped: gpio.conf: GPIO_MODE="0664" >> GPIO_MODE="0666" |

Okay thanks for that. I renamed the remoterx.conf and it stopped it from loading. Are you saying there is a systemctl for remoterx I can disable that too. Disabling the svxlink systemctl did the trick for me. They have their different startup script. The original remark was: "I see svxlink script in init.d but after I removed it I now see remoterx running and i don’t even use it" Well, there is also a remotetrx script. Systemd makes it more complicated too. There can be a script but there does not need to be, it can also be done by what they call a "unit file". Rob |

I installed using the buster release and it wasn’t easy. Those commands can star and stop it but where are there startup scripts that load up at boot. I can’t seem find it and remove it so it don’t start. With it being a systemctl service are you saying it starts automatically? Is there a way to disable that. I’m having issue with with svxlink restarting due to the aprs location but it works when I run it from terminal. Plus I like the terminal method because I can kill and restart from gui nicely and use dtmf on console.
