You can also achieve this by using the CTCSS detector in SvxLink as suggested above. The CTCSS tone will keep the squelch open even if there is no modulation. > 2) If you has an EchoLink interface like ULI BOARD , the RX LED become > ON everytime you has activated SvxLink Software. Never seen such a board. I just use a simple cable between my computer sound card and the transceiver. Nothing fancy. I guess I'm lucky it just works... > I think that the CTCSS control can be added to this feature of > COS-Control to give everyone the CTCSS features for radio that has not > it. But it is already built into the software. You really don't need any external hardware. I'll admit, the hardware approach probably works a little bit better but my experience has been that the software CTCSS detector behaves very well. I have some ideas to improve it which I'll implement some day when I feel like it. > I think you can add the CTS control on the config file in RX section > and in the same section adding the opportunity to use or not the CTCSS > control. > > I hope in this new features for my SvxLink with ULI BOARD interface, but > i think that this control is very important and it is also usable with > other EchoLink interfaces. One goal I had with the SvxLink software was that as little external hardware as possible should be used. The DSP algorithms should handle tasks like DTMF detection and CTCSS tone detection good enough that special hardware should not be needed. Admittedly, it would be nice to support already existing hardware. I will for sure implement hardware COS. I just can't tell when that will be. Hopefully soon since I expect I'll need it myself in the near future. I hope you find the software CTCSS detector to be good enough until hardware COS has been implemented. Just a note, be sure to adjust the input level properly. The CTCSS detector is a little bit sensitive to if the audio input level is wrong. 73 de SM0SVX / Tobias |
