Hi!
As discussed in svxlink-devel I propose adding APRStt functionality to SvxLink.
APRStt is used for gateways from any repeater into the APRS system by DTMF - no need for specialized packet radio gear.
More information and specs about APRStt can be found at:
http://aprs.org/aprstt/aprstt-s.txt
http://wa8lmf.net/bruninga/aprstt.html
I think this could be easily implemented as svxlink already has a DTMF decoder and a TCP/IP Interface to feed the decoded APRS data into the world-wide APRS stream.
Summing up the mails on svxlink-devel this would be the recommended way:
Adi/DL1HRC has sent Tobias/SM0SVX code for APRS
communication over the Internet so that code can be used for this application as well.
The most straight forward way to implement it would be to write a new module.
1. Actrivate module
2. Listen for 16 DTMF digits
3. Confirm APRStt packet with callsign
4. Automatically exit the module
By the way there's only one (close source) DOS software supporting APRStt - so this would be an unique feature of SvxLink :-)

Is anyone using APRStt?
Hi!
I am experimenting with APRStt, and it looks to me that it could be used as an excellent global database of nodes/users, which could enable automatic or at least semi-automatic connection to the link/repeater in range of a user. Is anyone trying to incorporate APRStt into svxlink? I would like to try something, so that we can discuss the best approach.

No one is working on this that I know of. If you want to discuss the implementation, it's best done on the svxlink-devel mailing list.
