SV does not open audio files via command line or "Open with" (win32)

Formerly it was possible to open audio files in Sonic Visualiser through the "Open with" option in Windows Explorer, but since I installed v2.1 it is not possible. It says: "File or URL '[filename here]' could not be opened". I was trying to open flac and mp3 files.
Tested in Windows 8 x64.
Thanks for the report. I take it these are files that do open in SV, if you open them directly from the File menu -- is that right? That is, the problem has something to do with how the invocation from Windows Explorer is handled?
Exactly; they open normally if opened from the File > Open menu.

I'm a bit puzzled by this one. Not being a Windows platform specialist (or any kind of useful specialist really!) I'm not entirely sure how Windows deals with these "Open with" invocations.
In my testing just now I couldn't even get the latest SV build to show up as a selectable option in the "Open with" menu -- even if I go through the file browser to find the SV executable, when I ask to use it, Explorer ignores me and doesn't show it in the list of available executables for the file type.
Maybe this is related to your problem, maybe it means there's something about the executable that Windows doesn't find acceptable, but I don't know what it is! Will see what I can find out.
I tried now to open an audio file through command line, giving the file name as a parameter to the SV executable. And SV gave me the same error.
Then, I wondered if SV was capable of opening any file at all. So, I tried to open a .sv file also, and the same error occurred.
So, the fact is that SV cannot open any file by passing it as a command line parameter (and by extension cannot open any file from the "Open with" menu in Windows Explorer). I should have realized it (and tested it) before. (is it possible to change the bug's title?)
Doh! You're right. Though that doesn't explain why I wasn't able to add it to the "Open with" menu at all.
What version of Windows are you using? I'm using Windows 8 here. The first time I had to go through the file browser to find the SV executable, but after that the program appeared in the list. But as far as I know, Windows 7, Vista and XP behave similarly, so I don't know why Windows is giving you trouble.
PS: I just tried to install SV in a Linux Mint virtual machine here (to test in Linux too), but dpkg says the .deb file is corrupted (I downloaded three times).
