Tux and Gwen were out having a nice picnic on the ice fields of Antarctica. Suddenly, a creature jumped from behind an ice bush, there was a flash, and Tux fell asleep! When Tux wakes up, he finds that Gwen is missing. Where she lay before now lies a letter. "Tux, my arch enemy!" says the letter. "I have captured your beautiful Gwen and have taken her to my fortress. The path to my fortress is littered with my minions. Give up on the thought of trying to reclaim her, you haven't a chance! -Nolok" Tux looks and see Nolok's fortress in the distance. Determined to save his beloved Gwen, he begins his journey. |

I think it was only used in TuxAQFH and this other game which name I forget (some iso-view shoot'em up) which used Gown so far. Neither of these had anything worth calling a story, so I really don't mind breaking consistency, we better greate our own than relying on old long forgotten stuff for really no reason. -- WWW: http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/ JabberID: gr...@ja... Gwen, in this context, sounds like a cheap ripoff of "Gown", or like someone accidentally misspelled it. Let's think... how does one name a female penguin? There are various pages with various responses, but I think my favorite is here: http://www.linuxworld.com/story/37996_p.htm Tux has had several girlfriends over the past 4 years. Seems most left in the same hurry they arrived in. Seems Tux remains focussed on being around for a long time. Chances are Tux will remain a bachelor. Well, if he's had multiple girlfriends in the past, I see no reason that he shoudn't have a differently named girlfriend now. But that's just me. Gwen sounds better than Gown, but it isn't a great name. However, I think Gown sucks awfully as a name, so I personally rather it not be included at all. It might be an entertaining pun, but it doesn't sound like a name at all. If anyone has a better name for his girlfriend, feel free to share it. However, as much as geeks like puns, let's remember that this isn't a game designed just for geeks. Thus Tux's girlfriend shouldn't have a name my little sister grimaces at just because we think it's kind of funny. Christopher Allan Webber | The bottom line |

Well, I have to admit that Gwen sounds better with my Portuguese accent, b= ut=20 I think only Bill can say that it sounds better for an English-speaking=20 person. About that geek comment, I don't see the connection... So, only geeks can= =20 find funny names? :O Anyway, I would like to know Tobias opinion on this. Besides, instead of fighting because of the name, why don't we discuss how= =20 the intro should look like: For instance, should we keep the helicopter and= =20 let a note to fall... There will be no intro for milestone1, just a scrolling text with a more or less colorfull background. Remember I want to get milestone1 out *today* so nothing time-consuming allowed. Beside that I would much prefer to not draw any final enemies, Gown/Gwen or whatever at this point in a hurry, better leave that for milestone2 or whatever when there is more time to care about the look of the stuff. -- WWW: http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/ JabberID: gr...@ja... Just to point out that the Milestone1 will be released by Tobias, that is the project leader and is, unfortunately, temporarily unable to keep track of the project. Ricardo Cruz -- Whenever someone tells you to take their advice, you can be pretty sure that they're not using it. |

How deserves he more 'credibility' than ours? If it sounds ugly for more many non-native speakers it doesn't matter much if it sound right for a native one. The important part in picking a good name is to pick one that sounds reasonably right in all languages and Gown really doesn't. > Just to point out that the Milestone1 will be released by Tobias, > that is the project leader and is, unfortunately, temporarily unable > to keep track of the project. Well, Tobis wasn't in touch with the project for now quite some weeks now, so I really don't see a reason why we should wait for him.
