I need a new detector that behaves like a physical twin loop detector. This detector should be able to classify the vehicles according to german "TLS (Technische Lieferbedingungen für Streckenstationen)". The data acquired by the detector should be sent via IP/UDP to some configurable machine instead of being logged to a file. That would allow me to observe an application working with the data it receives from the detector while observing the 'real' traffic on sumo's GUI. Provided that I find the time and understand the relevant sections of sumo's source code I would write such detector. But before I even start I do have a few questions? 1. At sumo.sourceforge.net I found the following statement describing the sumo-devel list: "This list was meant to be used by developers to discuss next steps. As almost everyone is working for himself, this list is almost completely unused." If there is anybody enhancing sumo, will those folks follow the sumo-user (this) list instead of the sumo-devel list? 2. If "everybody is working for himself" how could I contribute my detector to all other people using sumo? Will there be somebody I could send patches to? Will my detector eventually make it into sumo? 3. If I need additional libraries such as http://www.alhem.net/Sockets/, is there anything besides GPL and portability I should consider? Last but not least, please let me know if there is already some detector like "mine"; at least it should be able to send it's data to some foreign machine by means of TCP/IP. many thanks, Felix |
