Hi Christian, I had a similar problem and I was recommended to: http://sourceforge.net/projects/trafficmodeler/ It's a GUI that allows the editing of sumo maps. Hope it helps you too. Sent: Friday, June 26, 2009 12:44:26 PM Subject: Re: [sumo-user] Import of large cities into sumo - congestions at junctions Hi Daniel, thanks a lot for the reply and the good suggestions. Yes, I really use SUMO Version 0.10.3 with Trans. I have updated the Traci-Client in ns2 with big support of Axel Wegener from Uni Luebeck, so that it works with SUMO Version 0.10.3 and not only with the old SVN r5499 release. But up to now the new Traci-Client supports only the Traci-CMDs, I need. To the problems: - the junctions are not correctly build: --> Therefore I think, the best solution would be a kind of graphical editor for the sumo networks. Of course, this is not a fast and easy solution, but would help definitely. - the traffic light programs are not correctly generated: --> I will try to update Sumo to the latest SVN version and I hope my traci-client in ns2 works also with this version. Then I will try to use the option --try-join-tls in netconvert and compare the results. I do not think that major changes are needed, but, though, they request a certain SVN-version of SUMO (almost 2000 commits ago)... > But now, I have a quite frustrating problem. > There are congestions at nearly any complex junction with traffic lights. I haven't tried to edit a map OSM-people are doing, but for me, this looks "over-detailed". What is you opinion how this should look like? I suppose that have of the edges within the junctions shown in both images are not needed (and maybe even false) from both topological and geometrical point of view. Though, sure, if someone has a better idea how this should look like, please let me know. Maybe it would already help to have a viewer which shows such nodes in detail. > - the traffic light programs are not correctly generated, for a junction which is connected to another junction (see http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/bi0s-3-png.html ). Yes, that was a SUMO-issue, but it's solved... In the current SVN-version (I do not think that it already worked with 0.10.3) you can give the option --try-join-tls to netconvert and it will, aeh, try to join near-by tls. Works somehow, though it is still not completely well for some pathological junctions. It would be nice if we could share our observations using the following wiki-page: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/sumo/index.php?title=OpenStreetMapNetworkImport But: this is not the only SVN-change. Also the format of traffic light has changed, so you have to use the same SVN version of SUMO. Sorry. > In this case, vehicles blocks the other traffic at the junction. > > How can I improve the quality of the map easily? Of course, I can change every junction by hand and set TLS-Programs by hand. > This solution is possible for a small map, but quite difficult for a map of a whole city. > Yep, definitely. We have the same problem trying to prepare the TapasCologne scenario... We'll keep on this topic, though besides joining tls, there are other problems, such as not automatically recognized roundabouts (will be probably implemented soon) and fast right-turns (will probably not).. I am sorry we can not help too much. Maybe another idea: I know you try to model Ingolstadt. Why? I mean - is it necessary? Do you have the demand for it? If so, sure go ahead. If not, I would rather forget it. I would then move to the TAPASCologne scenario. sincerely, Daniel > Thanks a lot for every helpful idea ! > > Kind regards > > Christian Klotz > Funktions- und Vorentwicklung > > Audi Electronics Venture GmbH > I/AEV-3 > Sachsstraße 18 > 85080 Gaimersheim > > mailto:AEV...@au... > www.audi.com > > Sitz/Domicile: Ingolstadt > Registergericht/Court of Registry: Amtsgericht Ingolstadt > HRB Nr./Commercial Register No.: 3083 > Geschäftsführer/Managing Directors: Walter Streit > > Wichtiger Hinweis: Die vorgenannten Angaben werden jeder E-Mail automatisch hinzugefügt und lassen keine Rückschlüsse auf den Rechtscharakter der E-Mail zu. > > Important Notice: The above information is automatically added to this e-mail.
