Dear all, thank you Christoph, you pointed to something that is probably the worst piece of code within SUMO :-) Honestly: > Hi, > I am really sorry for being a little impatient. > > I was not sure about the lane-changing model because none of the > examples provided with the SUMO package explicitly showed the lane-changing > at work. Can you provide me with any examples with the lane-changing at work. > No, sorry. We do not have anything prepared that runs out of the box and is free. > I am basically doing a survey of the different traffic simulators out > there which are available > for the research community. I am impressed by the work that you have > put into SUMO and its > development model with new releases coming out unlike VanetMobiSim > whose development is > nearly stagnant. > Thank you. > So right now, doesn't the lane-changing model consider factors like > the distance between cars and > the advantages and disadvantages of lane-changing to the other cars in > the vicinity ? > Sure, it does. 1. The vehicle "plans" whether is lane-change is necessary (due to the need to enter an off-ramp for example), counting the distance and the traffic before the place where it has to leave the edge. 2. If it is needed, it wants to change the lane (to the one it can use for leaving the edge or for driving to a certain direction) 3. If there is enough place in front before a certain lane MUST been taken, the vehicle determines the neighbor lane that allows the maximum velocity and wants to change to this lane. 4. If a vehicle wants to change the lane, it looks whether it is possible (no collision will take place) 5. If it is wished and possible, the vehicle changes the lane (yes, discretely) 6. If it is not possible, it tries to accelerate/decelerate so that a gap that is large enough is reached. In parallel, thevehicles on the target lane decelerate a bit to let the vehicle in - if being far enough. Sorry, but I can not provide you a sceintific paper on this in the next days. > Cheers, > Vinu Daniel > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: "Christoph Sommer" <chr...@in...> > Gesendet: 27.10.08 14:26:52 > An: Vinu Rajashekhar <vin...@gm...> > CC: sum...@li... > Betreff: Re: [sumo-user] Lane-CHanging model in SUMO > Vinu Rajashekhar wrote: > > right now, doesn't the lane-changing model consider factors like > > the distance between cars and > > the advantages and disadvantages of lane-changing to the other cars in > > the vicinity ? > > I don't know the lane changing model used in SUMO, but looking at the > source code of the model (e.g. using > <http://www.auto-nomos.de/sumodoku/d6/da3/class_m_s_l_c_m___d_k2004.html#6f20827389074c83c2bdf2a1006b2100>) > it seems like it does indeed factor that in... > > > Christoph > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world > http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > _______________________________________________ > sumo-user mailing list > sum...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/sumo-user > _____________________________________________________________________ Der WEB.DE SmartSurfer hilft bis zu 70% Ihrer Onlinekosten zu sparen! http://smartsurfer.web.de/?mc=100071&distributionid=000000000066 |
