While working with SW, I thought of the following:
I think that the creation of new subtitles might become faster, if there was a key to create a new subtitle with a fixed duration.
For example, there could be a key named "Insert at position" that would work like this:
First, the user should be able to set the duration of the subtitles that will be added with the use of this key, before starting working (like it is already implemented). Let's say I want the subtitles to be 2 seconds long.
After I set the desired duration, I start playing the movie. Each time I need to add a subtitle I hit the "Insert at position" key, and an empty subtitle with a duration of 2 seconds is being added.
After I finish this rough timing, I start writing the text of each one of the subtitles and fine tune their timing (by using Alt+C and Alt+V, or by adjusting Show and Hide values).
Even when I use "Start subtitle" and "End subtitle" to create a new subtitle, I always need to adjust the timing with more precision, so I always use Alt+C and Alt+V too.
If there was a key like "Insert at position", we would need one click to add a subtitle on the spot, instead of two. Working on a full length movie, it would be over one thousand less clicks.
I hope you'll give it a thought when you'll have some time.
Thanks in advance, stay safe.
Best regards,
Xenos

This is already implemented. The key is defined in Settings -> edit shortcuts -> tab edit -> Insert a subtitle after the selected one or Insert a subtitle before the selected one. Play a movie in subtitle workshop, where you want a subtitle. Hit Ins or Shift+Ins (these are de default values which can be changed) The default duration time is 1 second. This can be altered in settings -> settings -> general -> advanced -> default subtitle duration.
