#19 Continuos Mount/Unmount in various OS's
I have a Seagate 120GB disk in an external USB/Firewire
Enclosure. I have found in Suse 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3 that
this device will continuously (about every 5 to 10
seconds) remount or scan the disk in some way. This
will completely freeze the system while it is doing
this and is obviously very annoying. The workaround I
have found is to open a terminal and cd to a directory
on the drive. That way it seems to know I'm using it
and stop this continuous scanning.

It pays to note that this does not appear to happen with
other drives on these systems such as USB Memory Keys and
and External USB DVD writer. The drive is formatted with
REISER and used to be NTFS which both had same results.
