I don't know of any front end of the sort you mention. I suppose it 
would be possible to port Studio to Windows with the cygwin tools 
installed, but that would probably be a bit mad. Actually, the sox 
command line is a great deal more intuitive than any front end for it I 
have ever seen (including Studio). This is because any sufficiently 
complex tool has too many options to make them expressible conveniently 
in a WIMP environment (that includes X as much as Mac or Windows). What 
Studio brings to the party is a very simple wave editor, which we 
needed at the time for a different project, and hardware mixer access. 
It just happens to use Sox too, that's all.

Why do you need a "front end" for "sox infile.wav outfile.au"?

I've not tried to make a Studio for Windows, because I've never used 
that platform, and consequently I've discouraged people from trying, 
unless they want to maintain it /in the same source tree/ as the Unix 
versions. Windows has caused extreme grief for other projects that have 
tried this. I'm thinking of Scilab and GTK, for example.

So I'd stick to the command line, personally, and if I was forced to 
use a windows machine, and do the audio editing on an excellent 
cross-platform editor called Audacity (http://audacity.sf.net). This is 
an outstanding piece of work, and proves I'm wrong about cross-platform 
operability :)
