Is there a reason you need to find the actual list item versus just using the 'Now Playing' information? The next version is adding context-menu support for that area so you'll have all the actions present on the list item itself.

I often check what was the last song playing (or x song before the current one). I just realised that when opening the player the current playing song is always at the bottom. Still I find the visual difference between the playing song and the other songs a little lacking 😄

That's fair enough. I've played around with a few visual indicators in the
past before I had the 'now playing window, but hadn't found anything that
looked good.

If you want to make a suggestion on how to style it, preferably with
inspiration from
http://www.google.com/design/spec/material-design/introduction.html, I'd
happily consider it.
