Could you please tell me more about your system? Does the
problem still exist? I test iTunes on 10.1.5, with iTunes 3.0 and it
works without a problem. Thanks. --simon

Sorry about the lack of info: I am running on an iBook with
Macos X 10.1.5, using "iTunes 3.0 (49)" (as reported
via "about iTunes...")
What happens is that I see the localhost:8000 entry show up
in the library folder, but nothing plays. I press the play button
several times and nothing happens.

Ok, I did some more tinkering: If I changed the relay URL to
the actual IP address of my machine, it works
fine. "localhost" does not seem to work. This is more than
likely a problem with my network setup (I have a firewall), but
would appreciate some guidance if you have any ideas.
Thanks

Hmm, I see us singing in the chorus with people, who have the OS X
CUPS printing configuration problem: http://localhost:631 does not work
for some people but http://127.0.0.1:631 does. A "deny" in the file "/etc/
cups/cupsd.conf" seems to be the block, maybe something similar
exists for iTunes?
There are also a number of other cases in the net where the string
"localhost" typed into a browser did not resolve (people behind a proxy,
being offline, having a bad day, whatever.)
Just my 0.02$

I have the same problem. After updating iTunes, Streamripper
no longer works. If I try to record a stream, there seems to
be no connection. The red circle with the X appears on the
gearwheel button, though. If click on it again, I get error
number -8 "SR_ERROR_SEND_FAILED".
My system was a G4 Titan PowerBook 1GHz with MacOS X Jaguar
and the most recent version of iTunes available (I guess 3).
Yesterday, I updated my system to MacOS X Panther 10.3.2 and
iTunes 4 (v4.2 from iLife`04). I still got the same problems.
Keep up the good work!

i have the same problem.
streamripper does not play the relay stream through iTunes 3.0.1
i have OS X.1.5 (and the recent updates) installed on my iBook.
my network-setup: static ip, dns, wins, internet-connection
through a gateway with firewall installed.
when i enter my own static ip instead of "localhost" or
"127.0.0.1" in the info-window of the relay-stream,
everything works fine.
