Back to Work

Last post I was entertaining thoughts of being able to pull enough of an income out of the share market to enable me to work on StrawberryFields full time.

Unfortunately over the last year - ironically from Oct 2007 when I left work - the market has tumbled.

In practical terms this means that StrawberryFields and all other research is on hold until I am able to find a way to keep a roof over my head and work on the project.... read more

Goodbye Day Job

Well in the year since the last update a lot has happened.

My thesis is complete, reviewed and pending some predictable fixups to my english has passed. Whew.

Tortoise CVS now works on Win64 - just in time for it to not work with Vista - thanks Microsoft for changing the shell extensions.

With the thesis completion we also have validation of the FDTD algorithms and the TLM algorithm on gold at optical frequencies - this means that StrawberryFields is now pretty close to a closed Beta.... read more

Late Update

Well the lack of a 64bit CVS is a pain, but to date I have validated the FDTD code at Optical frequencies using 2 complex Yee algorithms, the TLM code is almost there. Will be uploading a new cut of the source tree in teh near future (Sept 06) now I have a new 32 bit laptop

Progress

Despite the appearance that Strawberry Fields has gone cold, the project is continuing full steam ahead. Currently a generic algorithm for TLM that will enable generic complex permittivity materials to be modelled has been compelted and is in final testing.

Unfortunately I am waiting upon a Win64 CVS system so that I can update the source tree.
