There will be a GUI on stills2dv one day, I got my first baby steps with X, that's how I got the -showoutput option available since alpha 0.400 (the previsous version) just by trying to figure out how to draw pixels on the screen.

This present release has a new -fastrender command line option, it will turn off anti-aliasing totally and make the rendering something like 5 to 10 times faster, perfect for checking/developing/debugging the script.... read more

stills2dv now supports a new smoothness feature for pan and zooms and some new keywords have been added for positionning.

After working alpha 0.100 and 0.200 I realized that encodedv could not encode that many different resolutions (which is normal since the DV format is limited to a few things).

I therefore believe that it would be an error to fully integrate the encoding in my program. Sure that when there'll be a GUI for it that the encoders will be through system calls but it won't be limited to encodedv, I'll include mencoder and ffmpeg in them.... read more

stills2dv now supports also PNGs as input files.

0.100 is out, with new features:

-Alternative jpeg output (workfile configurable, you choose ppm or jpg)

-Alternative output resolution (workfile configurable). 320x200, 640x480, 720x480, 1920x1080, or any sets of number you like (remember though that ffmpeg would accept only multiples of 4)

-After the second time that some changes in ImageMagick broke my stills2dv application I am proud to announce: No more dependancy on ImageMagick, no more intermediary script file, the executable will produce the ppms or the jpgs directly. ... read more

It's been 3 years since I haven't done anything on the project. Sorry for those who may have asked for help in the meanwhile a few years back, I didn't notice...

Again some changes in Imagemagick's has broken stills2dv, somehow "convert" can't create ppm files which are recognized by encodedv anymore.

So I'm working on getting rid of the dangerous dependence on Imagemagick, I already made serious steps, I got some alpha code at home that already works but it needs a bit of more finesse to be showable to the public, it'll be online before the new year next week for sure.... read more
