Initial Comment:
CVS 2008/01/03 build (both prebuilt and compiled from source) hangs on startup after the loading screen displays and the X resolution changes. It doesn't seem to map a new window, but locks X entirely until the process is killed. It doesn't respond to SIGINT (but does to SIGQUIT and of course SIGKILL).

glibc spits out a backtrace and dump (attached) that shows the problem is DRI related - I'm not sure if it's ATI-specific (I'm using fglrx 8.39.4), but I haven't seen this bug before...
