From the information provided, it sounds like STAF is the right tool for=20 you.=20 In regards to "How can I manager and monitor those scripts from a=20 centralized machine?", check out the STAX service which allows you to=20 control the execution of STAF commands to remote machines (in sequence,=20 parallel, any combination there of), etc. and the STAX Job Monitor which=20 allows you to monitor the job. -------------------------------------------------------------- Sharon Lucas IBM Austin, lu...@us... I?m trying to determine where STAF can be implemented=20 and used in a specific environment. The environment is rather large with=20 many client and server machines ranging from Windows PC?s to Linux &=20 midrange servers and possibly mainframes. The *first* goal/application that I want to implement is to verify and=20 monitor the infrastructure of the LAN/WAN. IOW if any hardware servers=20 or routers have be changed or updated, I want to verify that all=20 machines are still visible and accessible as they were meant to be prior=20 to the installation. It would be relatively simple to define a script on=20 each machine to ping a list of predefined targets and possibly query=20 some OS variables and files. Once that is in place I would like to=20 extend the testing harness to verify software installation and possibly=20 application functionality. <>Two questions: Is STAF the right tools for the job? How can I manage and monitor those scripts from a centralized machine? Many thanks in advance.
