I have been trying for the past few days to install Staden 1.7.0 on Ubuntu 9.04 to no avail. I have read all the threads etc. and still have no clue how to build this package from source. I would love to use either 1.7 or 2.0 beta because I want to embrace open source software.
If anyone has successfully done it and could take time to write down the steps they took to do so, I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, I think I will just have to give up in despair.
anxiously waiting,

I've just released the 2nd beta version of 2.0, so hopefully that will prove easier to compile. If this is still proving problematic then I can probably put up some binaries too, but these tend to be very system version specific.

See https://sourceforge.net/projects/staden/files/staden/2.0.0b2/staden-2.0.0b2-src.tar.gz/download for the source tarball.
