Im looking for a way to run applications on a cluster that is likely to be= =20 loosing and gaining nodes on a regular basis, having used openmosix and=20 discovering that migrated proccesses are lost if the starting node goes dow= n=20 ive started looking elsewhere and OpenSSI seems like a possible soloution.= =20 but i have to find out just if its capable of the specific requirements i= =20 need. 1- nodes are going to be coming up and down frequently and at random. This= =20 is a common use enviroment that is rarely used by anyone that im trying to= =20 harness the unused power of, so i dont want all 32 machines in the cluster= =20 just giving up on their proccesses cause out of random chance someone=20 decided to use the ONE machine thats been put in charge.=20 2- livecd boot. while i can install on these machines i want a simple=20 portable "drop and run" bootable image i can use to start the node up as a= =20 member of the cluster and then remove once its running entirely off its=20 ramdisk image. any comments and suggestions are welcome as id like to make progress in thi= s=20 since it would be very useful for me to get this setup. |
