hello everyone! i'm pretty new to this - i'm trying to build an openssi cluster on a couple of old pcs. i'm using 166Mhz pentium processors running debian unstable. i downloaded the openssi packages corresponding to kernel 2.6.10, tried to compile a new kernel (using the kernel-source package) and found these two problems: 1. can't compile devfs: i get the following error (with or without mount on boot activated): fs/devfs/base.c: In function 'is_devfsd_or_child'_ fs/devfs/base.c:1313: error: structure has no member named 'real_parent' i don't really know if devfs is necessary but reading info about openssi it definitely looked like that. 2. using the kernel compiled without devfs my system won't boot giving the following error: Kernel panic - not syncing VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0) my grub configuration is the following: root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/hda1 ro savedefault boot i don't have an initrd image but compiled drivers like ext3 and all ide drivers into the kernel any help would be vey appreciated! thanks, stefan |
