I don't believe it matters. In OpenSSI there are in effect 2 forms of load balancing - connection load balancing via LVS and process load balancing. For Apache/httpd, I recommend just using the connection load balancing, which involves running httpd on all or several nodes and having HA-LVS and the CVIP spread the connection load to the servers on each node (which can then be different processes or thread or whatever). One could consider trying to process migrate httpd services and some have tried it. I think it should only be considered if the service being done is long running and compute intensive. If that scenario applies, the httpd services would have to be distinct processes and not clones or threads.
