First, make sure the entry in /etc/fstab for the root device is correct: device first, then mount point. Second, in /etc/clustertab, make sure the "boot device" field matches the device listed first in the /etc/fstab. Third, it's usually a good idea to modify the initrd image for the new node before adding a new node. Or, if possible, use homogeneous hardware.
