After some time of usage, ss5 is apparently leaking file descriptors. After a few months ss5 ends up with 1000+ file descriptors open., which causes issues for the host operating system.
short term we've made a cron job to restart ss5 each night so this wont occur again. It was pretty predictable though, particually when under heavier loads.
Ill grab lsof if it does happen again though.
