What changes are you making? Make sure you are editing the fine config.php in the config directory. The better thing to do is run the conf.pl script in the same directory. - paul |

This is what I have for the folder options with my SM 1.4 installation. 1. Default Folder Prefix : INBOX. 2. Show Folder Prefix Option : false 3. Trash Folder : Trash 4. Sent Folder : Sent 5. Drafts Folder : Drafts Remember that SM doesn't care about the what's on the file system. It only talks to the IMAP server. So everything that talks about the mail folders are really talking about IMAP folders. For all SM cares, the IMAP server could be on a different box. -- Randy Smith Amigo.Net Systems Administrator 1-719-589-6100 x 4185 http://www.amigo.net/ > > Best regards, > > Michael > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Randy Smith [mailto:ra...@am...] > Sent: Friday, May 02, 2003 10:46 AM > To: Michael.Peters > Cc: 'squ...@li...' > Subject: Re: [SM-STABLE] Qmail | Courier-imap | Squirrelmail maildir? > > > On Thu, 1 May 2003, Peters, Michael D. wrote: > > > Date: Thu, 1 May 2003 12:37:07 -0400 > > From: "Peters, Michael D." <Mic...@ac...> > > To: "'squ...@li...'" > > <squ...@li...> > > Subject: [SM-STABLE] Qmail | Courier-imap | Squirrelmail maildir? > > > > I was looking through the FAQ and have not found a good answer. > > > > I have Qmail delivering mail into my $HOME/maildir/new directory just fine. > > I can send mail out just fine. Try the SM-USERS mailing list, which has much more traffic; someone might be able to help you there. Also, try looking in your maillog to see if there are any helpful errors when those users are being locked out... if so, try asking about those errors on the courier-users mailing list. I was looking through the FAQ and have not found a good answer. I have Qmail delivering mail into my $HOME/maildir/new directory just fine. I can send mail out just fine. I can connect with Squirrelmail just fine. The problem I have is that from Squirrelmail, I have "INBOX" with Drafts, Sent and Trash so I don't see my new mail. Now I have tried changing the config.php to: $default_folder_prefix = 'inbox/'; $default_folder_prefix = 'maildir/'; $default_folder_prefix = ''; Without success in seeing my new mail. Any advice is appreciated. Best regards, Michael D. Peters |

SquirrelMail 1.4.0 is too slow OS: win2000+sp3IMAP Server: Exchange2000Web Server: iis5php: 4.3.1 When mailbox has many email , then the SquirrelMail 1.4.0 will very slow, it spend about 30 seconds to enter the first pages, If the mailbox only have one email, it need 10 seconds. And if refresh folder or messages list, it is very slow. With same config and mailbox has many email, the use the SquirrelMail 1.4.0 RC2a only need 3 seconds. I have to delete SquirrelMail 1.4.0 and install SquirrelMail 1.4.0RC2a, because user can not bear. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. |

Running FreeBSD 4.8(tracking Stable) courier-imap-1.7.1 mod_php4-4.3.1 apache+mod_ssl-1.3.27+2.8.14 Machine is a PPro 200mhz with 64mb memory. I just upgraded mod_php, apache, and Squirrelmail 1.2.9 to 1.4.0, Everything seems to be much slower. Folders (left pane) load slower, but the worst part is waiting for messages to load. Some tests I've done. With no plugins: Screen appears with seperate frames within 2-5 seconds. At about 15 seconds, the left frame appears. At about 40 seconds, the list of messages appears. Tested with plugins. ***Including this only for comparison to previous environment*** The screen with seperate frames loads within the first 2-5 seconds... Then at about 20 seconds, color appears in the left frame, then at about 30 seconds the folder list appears (approx 60 folders). At about 55 seconds, the "Current Folder: INBOX" and menubar appears at the top, and at about 60 seconds the messages list appears. Tested (no plugins) the time it takes just to load messages in different folder (click on folder in left pane). Took approx. 50 seconds. This whole process of logging in, and completing loading was under 15 seconds before I upgraded (with plugins). Any thoughts on how to speed this up? What might be causing this? Is there a better way to diagnose this? Thoughts? Thanks, John |

A change between 1.2.4 and 1.4.0 is that now in = class/deliver/Deliver_SMTP.class.php the variable=20 HTTP_HOST is used as the 'HELO' line for sendmail, as opposed to the = domain setting in the configuration. This will work fine, unless your webserver is running on a non-standard = port, and your URL to access is includes this port number. Then, http host will be 192.168.0.10:8080 or something, which sendmail = will not allow. To work around this and revert to the previous behaviour: edit the above file, and change line 56 so that it looks as follows 53 /* If $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] is set, use that in our HELO to = the SMTP 54 server. This should fix the DNS issues some people = have had */ 55 if (sqgetGlobalVar('HTTP_HOST', $HTTP_HOST, SQ_SERVER)) = { // HTTP_HOST is set 56 $helohost =3D $domain; 57 } else { // For some reason, HTTP_HOST is not set - = revert to old behavior 58 $helohost =3D $domain; 59 } Regards, James |

I'm going to leave compiling Squirrelmail as a last resort. If I'm going to compile, I might as well use v1.4. I'm more concerned about just getting it to see sendmail properly then the error message on the INBOX page. Thank you again for all your help! -Jeff |

In doing so, it has made some problems all over the place. As you're using 1.2.11, if you don't want to upgrade to SM 1.4.0 just yet, try upgrading you SM install to 1.2.12[cvs].
