Hi all, We have just changed server boxes, from Win2kPro to Win2k server. All the paths remained the same, still running IIS 5.0. I didn't reinstall Squirrelmail, simply copied the existing install of SM over. SMail seems to run fine, calendar works etc etc However, now I am getting error/warning messages whenever I insert an attachment to an email. The incoming and outgoing messages have the attachments intact. It's just the error/warning messages are causing the end users concern. A sample of the error message is at the base of this email. FYI our folder setup is f:\website - location of our website f:\website\webmail - location of Squirrelmail f:\website\data - seems to be holding the attachments f:\website\webmail\data - end users Squirelmail preference files are stored here config.php has 2 entries. I copied and pasted the entries below. please note that one entry has ' and the other uses " Why ? I dunno .... $data_dir = '../data/'; $attachment_dir = "../data/"; Any ideas as to why these messages appear, what they mean and how to make them go away ? Well, I have problem with squirremail languages. On all other servers it uses Finnish Language, but in one server it always chooses english and I cant even change language from display settings. Is there way to bruteforce squirrel to use Finnish language from beginning. This is critical. I have done full reinstall many times, but still it uses English allways, feel like bit hopeless now. What is wrong, all servers are using redhat 7.3 Thanks for all help. -- Eero |

Dear readers of this list, The squirrelmail-stable list has been performing the same function as the squirrelmail-users list for a long time now. We think it's better to concentrate the user support in one place, to maximize the results. Since the squirrelmail-stable list doesn't add any value to this, we've decided to shut it down. The list will be closed for posting soon. Please continue on one of our other lists: squ...@li...: User Support squ...@li...: SquirrelMail development (including the stable series). Thijs |

Here's the background. I'm using Squirrelmail 1.4.1 under FreeBSD on a cluster of three machines with PHP4 sessions, SM userprefs and SM addressbook data stored in MySQL. I've set "Plain Blue" as my default theme in the SM config script. And this works fine as a default when new users log in (IMAP authentication currently against our campus-wide mail server). However, if users go to change their Display Preferences at all, the Theme option has "Alien Glow" selected as the default choice. Is this a known bug or do I need to change more than the default theme choice under the SM Perl configure script? I tried setting default_pref in the standard data directory, but to no avail of course as any getPref/setPref functions will be accessing the database now and the default theme listed there was still "Default" and not "Alien Glow" anyway. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, on a different topic entirely, is there a "good" way to share the data directory for file uploads between the clustered web front-end machines other than NFS? -- Mark Nipper e-contacts: Computing and Information Services ni...@ta... Hi List, I ran across this problem with the release version 1.4.1 of SM running on RedHat9 with Apache 2.0.x and PHP 4.2.2 I have an email with 2 attachments, one is a word doc and the other is a MPEG file of some music. The word doc will download properly, the MPEG however will not. It is properly identified on the download area as audio/mpeg for the content type. downloading generates a 404 type page on IE6 and a "document contains no data" on Mozilla. Nothing in the apache error logs. This MPEG is about 4.5M in actual size. Is it me [ configuration] or a bug / size limitation ? Thank you very much. there is nothing of the sort, because there are too many possible combinations of email backends. SM is just an IMAP client and has no way of knowing how your server is configured. What you are asking is way too far outside the scope of SM, or even most plugins, although you could easily construct such a system yourself. Good luck, paul |

Dear friends, I am a new SqMail's user and very sorry if this is too old question. I am in a masqueraded Redhat 8.0 box and using SqMail version 1.2.7. Users that signed-up manually can use the web-based SqMail from anywhere nicely without any problem. The problem is, a NEW user that does not signed already in the box, he (she) should can be signed-up by his (her)self from anywhere. Just like in a yahoo-mail. So my question is, is there any plug-in software that work for SqMail version 1.2.7 in a masqueraded Redhat 8.0 box? I am looking forward to hearing your helps. Thank you very much. Hello, I was wondering if any of you would know a more efficient way of changing the mailbox name rather than in the code. The situation is that we have installed: OS: RH 9.0 WWW: Apache 1.3.27 with PHP 4.3.2 MTA: Qmail 1.3 IMAP: imap4REV1 (the one that comes pre-installed with RH) We can send/recieve mail with Qmail (verified by checking the logs/Mailbox file). Now, when we log into squirrelmail... it automatically creates the INBOX, INBOX.Trash, INBOX.Drafts.....etc but does not show Mailbox that is right in that directory. The only way is to subscribe to Mailbox but it stills defaults to INBOX.. Is there a way to change this? -- Hank McCoy Systems Analyst ran...@ho... _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail |

I just reinstalled my squirrelmail server and I noticed something small that is different: The folder list on the left now displays folders as being INBOX.Drafts, INBOX.Sent, etc. On the old server, folders are simply displayed as "Inbox", "Sent", "Drafts", etc. I liked it better that way. I still have the old server up and I can see that all of the Folder Display and Theme settings are the same. It is the same version of squirrelmail, as well. Any ideas where this might be changed? |

On 1.4.0, if you log in as one user, say "user1", then log out and log in as another user, "user2", all of "user1"s personal information ( name, email address etc ) is copied & saved into user2's profile. Is there a fix? Can this be confirmed as a bug? Cheers James |

All, Thanks for the tips you all gave.. It helped a lot. I did finally determine what the problem is. I was using MySQL 4.0 which apparently has new dynamic libraries. The old static libraries no longer existed. However, there were no errors I could find anywhere to point this out to me.. Still not sure how to figure all that out .. At any rate, I was poking around on the mySQL site and came across the MySQL-shared-compat RPM ... Lo and behold, this contained not only the new improved libraries, but backwards compatible libraries I could use for "older" apps... Installing that RPM fixed the problems I was having with the database.. :) So, again, thanks all! In versions 1.4.0 and older, Squirrelmail appended my own domain name to addresses without a domain. I upgraded to 1.4.1 and it's not happening any more.
