Would this make it useless.? > Lewis, I recall a similar discussion on this list a while back, but I think the proposal was to use some sort of template mechanism to make themes more flexible in terms of being able to change the layout and not just colors, etc. As I recall, some people were for, some against, so it got a "pocket veto." I'd recommend a look at the templates implementation in phplib (http://phplib.netuse.de). It provides a clean separation between PHP and HTML, and it's fast and in wide use. For the record, I like templates, but I'd propose leaving it until after 1.0 since it will be a very large undertaking. In the mean time if people are interested we can discuss how we'd set things up. I've been playing around with the phplib templates for a few months now so I may be able to help (more than fixing trivial bugs which is the extent of my contribution so far). Thanks, Toby |
