I'm working with an application that generates SMTP without a Date: header. This is not a crisis, because Date: is a memo header according to the RFC, but is an issue for my clients. In Production, we use Exchange/Outlook. In the lab, we use hmailserver/Squirrelmail. When messages are sent with no Date: header, Outlook uses a mailserver time stamp for the message (or at least that is the customer experience) When squirrelmail is used, it shows 'unknown date.' I see this as a cosmetic issue, but I'd like to be able to 'fix' it for my customers. (So they don't complain.) I'm running hMailserver 3.4, and squirrelmail 1.4.4, but am willing to upgrade if it makes sense to do so. Is there some way that Squirrelmail can show the date in the header rather than the memo header date field? I understand that the fix is to get the source to use the 'right' format, but I'm looking for something easier... Anyone have any advice? Thanks! |
