Instructions about configuring two email programs to use same email account. 1. Use IMAP and not POP3 server. SquirrelMail works only with IMAP. Other programs might provide different options. Use SSL or STARTTLS, if your email programs make connections to remote IMAP server. Please note, that remote IMAP connections are not as fast as local mailbox with POP3. 2. Set programs to use same IMAP folders for drafts and sent emails. SquirrelMail conf.pl -> 3. Folder prefs or Options -> Folder prefs. Please note, that you must use utf7-imap encoded folder names in conf.pl. See other email program documentation about setting special email folders. 3. Set programs to use same address books. SquirrelMail supports only address books that are stored in database, cvs files or ldap. Personal ldap based address books require special plugin. I think stock Outlook and most of other email programs might be able to use only ldap address book. 4. Other email preferences might require tighter integration between SquirelMail and other email program. It is possible to use same settings for identities and signatures, but it require specific mods in SM and other email program. -- Tomas |
