Hello. I am confused by the encodings for the diferent languages squirrelmail supports. Here is my question: If I choose f.e. Japanese in squirrelmail options and if I change the encoding in my browser to ISO-2022-JP. Then I write a message in a form for a receiver who wants ISO Windows Latin 1, I do have to reencode ISO-2022-JP to ISO Windows Latin 1 ? Is this correct? But how does squirrelmail represent the user's encoding? I can't see any language META tag in the generated webpages. Is there an internal variabl= e for that? So I have to convert from the encoding of the user who has squirrelmail open in a browser to the encoding of the receiver who usually has it's ow= n encoding? What happens if the receiver don't speak Japanese? Would that be impolite to ask the user to compose its whole message in either english or german? So the receiver's encoding would be fix, configurable in config.php. For that to work, the sender must write german or english text. Probably in ISO Windows Latin 1? I am not too used to languages other than german, french and english so t= o do it the correctly, please help. Greetings, Robert PS. I have set up a web to svn interface at http://www.fixe-post.de/svnbin/web-svn-view if you want to have a look at the rather small code yet, it's in the trun= k directory. --=20 http://www.fixe-post.de |
