I am running SM on Kubuntu Dapper with up to date
packages. I have a folder that contains >2000 e-mails
and the Prev and Next links do not appear that allow me
to move between messages. I have to go back to the
message list everytime. When I move some messages to
another folder the P/N links now appear.

PHP 4.4.2
Apache 2.0.55
dovecot-imapd 1.0.beta3

Do you have server side sorting turned on in SquirrelMail
configuration?

No. Both server thread sort and server-side sort are false.

Internal SquirrelMail sorting has known issues with larger
mailboxes. Your imap server supports server side sorting.

Please turn on server side sorting setting.
