[Squirrel-sql-users] XLS export of BIGINTs

I frequently export sql results to a XLS (or XLSX) with BIGINTs. When opened by by excel, it cuts off the last few digits and turns them into 0. I know the obvious answer is to adjust excel to not do this, however I often send these out to others who may not have the technical expertise to do so. Any thoughts on how I can modify the output to accommodate this?

Hello,

I updated my java version from 7.xx 32bit to 8.25 64bit. Since then I am
receiving the error message:

Error occured during task execution: sun/io/ByteToCharConverter

This happens when I try to setup the connection to my DB2 database. 

I used a 32 bit version of Squirrel before the error occured. When I started
occuring I upgrade to Squirrel 3.6 64bti. However, this didn't help. Any
suggestions what I could do?

even after i creates .squirrel-sql folder the app does not write sqlaljases.xml after i click save preferences

thanks to Sam's advice I was able to connect to AS400 on PUB1.DE.

I can not load schema information, too. This is due to the following error:

java.sql.SQLException: [MCH1210] Empfängerwert zu klein, um Ergebnis zu 
halten.

Could you please see if you get the same error message? To see the error 
please connect to AS400 and then go to
menu Windows --> View SQuirreL Logs

In case you see the same error you may use the attached little Java 
program to reproduce it. (This requires a bit of java knowledge to 
compile and run the program.)


The error occurs inside the JTOpen driver when SQuirreL tries to load 
database schemas.

In this case you should contact the JTOpen team to fix the bug.

Thanks for the pointer. But I'm sorry I registered but didn't even manage to login to the system.

Perhaps someone could send me a JDBC-Url/user/password combination together with an URL where I could download the right JDBC driver so that I could right away connect with SQuirreL.

Best would be if I could reproduce René's problem with that login.

I thought that I also had the problem with MS SQL Server, but am not seeing
it now...  The problem may have been that I was looking for tables under
"DBO Owner", not "DBO".

With regard to DB2 on the IBM i, the issue may relate to the fact that
database and schema are often (or usually or always?) the same layer
(related to the library name), and not separate as in SQL Server.

Are you doing your development in Linux?  If the project can qualify, IBM's
program described at

I have a similar problem that changing to "Load all and cache all Schemas" did not fix. I am using the jTDS Microsoft SQL driver for a SQL Server database. The object tree does not show me the dbo owner at all.  A colleague does see it and he suggested I check the version of the driver. But I haven't figured out how to do that or to update it if necessary.

I just tried to reproduce your problem on a PostgreSQL and couldn't see your problem. Schema loading works alright there.

I was trying to use the Create data feature of Scripts, but I always failed
because of low memory. Then I found this:

What prevents you from replacing the hard-coded memory value with an
environment variable or whatever a user can easily adjust?

before any of your SQL statements?
That is a DB/400 way to set a schema explicitly. Not sure it would work for UDB.

Squirrel query builder is not working because it doesn't include the schema name in the queries. This is at least my assumption because I get the same error if I don't specify the schema in my SQL instructions.

This works:
SELECT PROGRESSIVO FROM SCHEMA-NAME.ARTICOLO

This doesn't:
SELECT PROGRESSIVO FROM ARTICOLO

I'm making a second try.
My understanding in the last paragraph above was wrong. Now I've learned how to filter a schema: I choose the alias to connect to, then click on "New Session Properties", open the tab Object tree and I enter my schema name in *Schema include*.

It was not wrong actually, I was just confused by two different settings preferences (alias properties and session properties).

Alias schema properties seem exactly what I want, but I confirm the problem I described before: I can load or not load _all_ the schemas; I cannot say "load only this schema and don't load the others".

Maybe my issue is a non-issue. I don't have any knowledge of databases, so
I may use wrong words and have wrong expectations.

Squirrel query builder is not working because it doesn't include the schema
name in the queries. This is at least my assumption because I get the same
error if I don't specify the schema in my SQL instructions.

This works:
SELECT PROGRESSIVO FROM SCHEMA-NAME.ARTICOLO

This doesn't:
SELECT PROGRESSIVO FROM ARTICOLO

Error: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-204, SQLSTATE=42704,
SQLERRMC=DB2INST1.ARTICOLO, DRIVER=3.57.82
SQLState:  42704
ErrorCode: -204
Error: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-727, SQLSTATE=56098,

I guess I'll have to go the hard way, use a terminal and learn the SQL
commands.

If so, I believe you can load and cache the schemas once, then change to not load schemas,  so next time you start SQuirrel the Schemas will be loaded from the cache.  Another variation is once you have all the schemas loaded, you can specify which to load.  But you need to load all the schemas at least once to get a list you can subset.

Isn't that - your /schema part - the database name?
This is how I'm connecting to the database:

jdbc:db2://10.0.20.1:50000/DB_name

This database contains several schemas
