For more complex configuration data we use Java Beans together with an XML-Serialization framework. For those SQuirreL itself determines the place to write the data to which is always the users home directory. For little things we sometimes spare us the Java Beans and use the standard Java Preference API and this is the one that uses the home directory on *NIX and the registry on Windows. A Java programmer only sees the Preference-API he doesn't need to know anything about where the data is actually stored. Gerd |
