In some small commandline-JDBC-tool I once wrote for everyday work (maybe I should put it on sourceforge) I stored user specific settings (like history, used drivers and connections) in a directory $HOME/.henplus/, similar like the $HOME/.squirrel-sql/. However, if there is an directory .henplus/ in the directory the tool is started in, then this directory is used; so I created a empty .henplus in the projects' directory and had my project specific settings there. But maybe this kind of handling user specific settings is only viable for commandline tools as they are usually invoked on -- the commandline. Graphical tools may be started from some icon somewhere, and this allows less control where the process is started in. But at least this could be an idea considered as well. > Squirrel a far better tool that if I was just working on it alone. So if you > have any more ideas or patches, please don't be shy <hint/>. My sourcefoge user name is 'hzeller', just in case you want to add it to the developers list ;-) ciao, -hen |
