Hi,
In SQL Server, one connects to a server and their database connection, is simply the starting catalog.
On a server with 200 databases, this leaves the object tree populated with each database. The only database populated, however, is the one connected to.
This request is as follows:
It would be great to be able to decide which database/catalogs to show per alias, and/or have squirrel have a check box that says "Only include 'initial catalog' in object tree."
Currently, I'm able to use the session filter object tree tab, but I have to do it every time I connect. I've chosen to just not use the object tree in squirrel and instead use the one in MS tools (which I'd rather not do because I like Squirrel's better for what I do).
Thanks in advance, and thank you again for Squirrel!
I know the prpblem, and it has bugged me for a long time; I event opened a ticket (#496: Per Alias session properties) going in a similar direction (setting session properties per alias).
For now, I use the following solution: In the "New Session" properties, I set "Catalog include" to "AAA" and "Schema include" to "BBB". Both values do not really occur in my database. I don't know why, but it does the trick: In the object tree I only see the database I connect to.

Al,
Thanks for your response.
This is great. I set catalog to AAA and left the schema blank and it allowed me to see all schemas for the current database. Exactly what I wanted.
Thank you again.
Joe
Hi Dude, where is the new session properties you mentioned above? This has been quite annoying for a while and like to get a work around at least for now.
Excerpt from change log:
'#522 New checkbox "Load connection's current catalog only" in New Session properties.
See menu File --> New Session properties --> Tab Object tree --> Second checkbox from the top.
Feature will be available in future snapshots and versions.
