Hi all! I've been having some fun with an embedded device, with squashfs as its root fs, but now that i've upgraded kernel and squashfs, the system crashes at bootup Some details: Device: AP with an WL11000 board (linuxAP-eh) Kernel: 2.4.20 -> 2.6.{6,8.1} Squashfs: 1.3r2 -> 2.0r2 The error i get on bootup: VFS: Cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(31,0) Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(31,0) And some messages i put to debug the 2.6.6 bootup process (very ugly... :P) DEBUG: do_mount: do_mount(/dev/root, /root, squashfs, 32769, 0) DEBUG: do_add_mount 3 DEBUG: do_kern_mount: do_kern_mount(squashfs, 32769, /dev/root, 0) DEBUG: do_kern_mount: 5 DEBUG: get_sb_bdev: 1 DEBUG: fs/block_dev.c: 557: do_open DEBUG: fs/block_dev.c: 562 DEBUG: get_sb_bdev: fffffffa = open_bdev_excl(/dev/root, 32769, fs_type->squashfs) DEBUG: do_kern_mount: type->get_sb(type->squashfs, 32769, /dev/root, 0)=fffffffa DEBUG: do_mount: do_add_mount=-6 DEBUG: mount_block_root: do_mount_root(/dev/root, squashfs, 32769, 0)=-6 VFS: Cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(31,0) Please append a correct "root=" boot option DEBUG: fs_names=squashfs Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(31,0) Does anybody have a hint on this?
