I got same problem as u, my solution is write 'sp_version' myself. The create sql is:

CREATE proc [dbo].[sp_version]
@script varchar(50)=null,
@type varchar(50)=null
as
select 'TopView'

return

By the way, please tell me the Memory use status when ur 'sqlr-connection-freetds ' started successfully
