People, Is anyone using SL for Brokering business in Oz or know of someone using it for this sort of business? - specifically I am thinking of a Strata Title insurance operation. Just in case anyone else encountered this problem, we've traced the cause of the problem to apache's mod_security. Adding the following lines to mod_security.conf fixed the problem. <Location /sql-ledger/> SecFilterEngine Off </Location> |

I'm curious to know if anyone here has done any work to integrate agora.cgi with sql-ledger? I'm exploring a project where I might try to put them together. It'd be great to get a leg up on that project, or to find collaborators for such an animal. -- Hugh Esco CampaignFoundations.com |

Yesterday I downloaded and installed sql-ledger (2.6.22) on a Mandriva server 2006. The install proceeded ok and seems to be running fine. I was able to edit the preferences, edit the system defaults, add to the Chart of Accounts and add customers. But when I try to add a part, I get a server error after I enter the details and click on save. --- 8< ---- Server error! The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster Error 500 --- 8< --- I've used it (2.6.3) on a Mandrake 8.2 and had no problems. Also tried to install it on a Mandriva 2006 and its working without the problem. Can't see anything in the apache logs. Any idea on what I might be missing and where I might try to find possible causes? Thanks |

Hi guys, I am installing SQL Ledger for the first time on Windows 2000. According to the instructions available at http://www.sql-ledger.org/source/windows/install.pdf I need to download DBD-Pg.zip from http://www.edmund-mergl.de/export/ but I get file not found. So my first question to this list is that what are the alternatives available to this file. Hi everyone, I found a problem in the assembly item. If you make an assembly item consisting of other item and an Overhead item, the Overhead item IS NOT calculated to the COGS on the Income Statement report. Is anyone ever experience this problem? Seems to me it wouldn't go under AP or AR, but that it should be entered as some sort of Liability. For example, we have set up (in QuickBooks, though) an account that is called Retainers as a Liability account. This account just has the dollar amount the client has paid. As you execute the work, then realize the income, the money is pulled out of the Retainer account and placed in the Operating Account at that time. Useful? It's a service, perhaps, not a part? Create a suspense account for the client (PrePayment...) and debit it when they pay. Then do your time cards, sales order and pay the invoice from the PrePayment account by way of the Cash->Receipt. el on 12/14/06 6:34 AM Steve Switzer said the following: > I haven't received any further replies to this and figured I'd > "bump" the thread. I haven't received any further replies to this and figured I'd "bump" the thread. I need to have this ability shortly, as I'll be entering a contract very soon. I brainstormed a bit and tried to come up with a way to handle this with different AR entries. However, I quickly realized this won't work since the whole idea of an "AR" is to show that someone owes *you* money. So, I bill a customer for a bank of hours (they receive an invoice), and they pay it. The invoice is closed, since the payment was satisfied. What they were billed for must then go *somewhere* to cancel out the actual hours that I've logged. This almost seems like an AP/AR scenario against a part, where I've been paid for a part (really labor, but would need inventory), but then I have to pay a vendor and order the parts (the actual labor is performed). However, I cna't figure out how to get the time cards involved with this. Then again, should they be? Thoughts are greatly appreciated. *Somebody* must be doing this out there. Where are you? :) Thanks, Steve On Mon, 2006-11-06 at 10:34 -0500, Mark Bucciarelli wrote: > On Mon, Nov 06, 2006 at 10:12:04AM -0500, Steve Switzer wrote: > > Hello, > > I currently use timecards / sales orders / invoices to track and bill > > for my time to a client. Can you post your whole invoice.tex, please? Stroller. PS: it's redundant having pre-printed invoices with SQL-Ledger. A LaTeX template can surely do everything you need; although some may find fonts limited, you can rule lines and include all the graphics & logos you need. |

This did end up being the sequence numbers in the invoiceid sequence. After using setval() to update the sequence number everything appears to be working fine, however I do still have to remove and re-add all of the invoices that have duplicate information. I haven't noticed any oddities with older invoices but I'm hoping that none of the information has been overwritten. -- Lenny Leblanc -----Original Message----- From: sql...@li... Hi, I'm got Epson TMJ2100 POS printer and want to use it with sql-ledger for printing POS receipts. Printer got parallel interface and I'm able to print receipts. My question is, is anybody could give me some hints how to include printer control commands into pos_invoice.txt template? I want to include Company logo and manipulate look of receipts. Printer is capable to print images and colour. Thanks Peter --=20 Search for products and services at:=20 http://search.mail.com |

First of all, login to your Postgres server and invoke an interactive SQL session as follows: $ psql yourDatabaseName yourSQLLedgerUserName Welcome to psql 7.4.11, the PostgreSQL interactive terminal. Type: \copyright for distribution terms \h for help with SQL commands \? for help on internal slash commands \g or terminate with semicolon to execute query \q to quit yourDatabaseName=> Next, see how the CoA is organized: yourDatabaseName=> \d chart Table "public.chart" Column | Type | Modifiers -------------+--------------+----------------------------- id | integer | default nextval('id'::text) accno | text | not null description | text | charttype | character(1) | default 'A'::bpchar category | character(1) | link | text | gifi_accno | text | yourDatabaseName=> Then, if you wish, you can see what a few rows look like: yourDatabaseName=> select * from chart; id | accno | description | charttype | category | link | gifi_accno -------+-------+-----------------------------------+-----------+----------+----- ------------------------------------------+------------ 10001 | 1000 | CURRENT ASSETS | H | A | | 10002 | 1060 | Checking Account | A | A | AR_p aid:AP_paid | 10003 | 1065 | Petty Cash | A | A | AR_p aid:AP_paid | 10004 | 1200 | Accounts Receivables | A | A | AR | 10005 | 1205 | Allowance for doubtful accounts | A | A | | 10006 | 1500 | INVENTORY ASSETS | H | A | | 10007 | 1520 | Inventory / Hardware | A | A | IC | 10008 | 1530 | Inventory / Software | A | A | IC ... >From here, you can easily see how the 'chart' table (the one that describes the CoA) is organized. Given this information, you can take your M$-Word file that contains your desired CoA, massage it into a set of SQL INSERT commands (using global search-and-replace), then do a "Save as..." on the file, using a .txt (TEXT) format when you save it. If you place a DELETE command at the beginning of the file, before any of the INSERTs (delete * from chart;), you easily can import this file & create your new CoA: $ psql yourDatabaseName yourSQLLedgerUser < yourImportFile.txt Voila! > It is very > specialized but seems to pretty well follow the installed COA, except very > detailed & specefic to the building industry. It is available publicly from > the NAHB web site. It is for home builders. It might be something worth > adding to the distribution anyway. If you follow the above directions, you can send your .txt file to DWS for inclusion in his distribution & contribute to the continued success of SQL-Ledger. -- Best Regards, Wallace |

I have a COA that I need installed, as either a MS Word doc or as an Excell spreadsheet. I know I can alter the existing installed COA as needed, but, it would be MUCH faster if I could import the COA that I need. It is very specialized but seems to pretty well follow the installed COA, except very detailed & specefic to the building industry. It is available publicly from the NAHB web site. It is for home builders. It might be something worth adding to the distribution anyway. Thanks! John |

I'm not sure if the original announcement of my timecardimport script got through to the Announce list (I never saw it), but I have now released a more mature version 0.3 which now allows records to be imported from the iBiz time billing application for Mac OS X (as well as from GnoTime for Unix/Linux and Timesheet for Palm OS which were previously supported). Please test it out and let me know if it works for you. Consider this sequence of buying and selling products purchased in a foreign currency with a credit card. Using a credit card is becoming the most common method to pay vendors in North America. Even the gov't departments that buy products from us use corporate credit cards. Hopefully someone has a suggestion on how to handle this. Note: In the follooing example, the credit card exchange rate is calculated by the bank at the end of the business day. This is important to remember. 1) Enter the purchase order SL wants to know the exchange rate.... but I can't determine the exchange rate I would be charged until the day is over (when the markets close) Solution ?: Enter the sale order in CDN funds and then alter it to USD tomorrow to reflect the correct exchange rate 2) Shipment arrives When using the "ship" or "vendor invoice" functionality to receive the item into inventory, SL wants to know the exchange rate. Problem: I can't find this out until the next day. Partial Solution: Don't receive the item into inventory until the next day. This prevents me from selling the items until the day after the shipment arrives. This can only be done with an invoice, since you can't manually enter the date when using the "receive" shipment function. Which leads to a 2nd problem.... Problem#2: When I turn the Order into an invoice, SL wants to know TODAY"S exchange rate. even though the invoice is NOT for today's date. After all.. you rarely have a copy of the invoice on the same date it was created by your vendor. It would be nice if SL only asked for exchange rates when the invoice is posted. NOT before it's even created Since I have no way to know what TODAY"S exchange rate is......and i'm forced to enter the exchange rate for today..... I enter a fake exhange rate for today, THEN enter the actual invoice date and exchange rate for THAT date and post the invoice. I then have to go into the database and delete the fake exchange rate I entered for today. :P 3) Pay the vendor invoice I pay the invoice with a credit card.....wait a day until I know what exchange rate I was charged.....then enter the payment into SL. Is there a way to handle these invoices in native currency and then just do GL entries to handle the Foreign exchange rate charged when the vendor is paid ? Regards, Roy P P.S. Not only is this whole process a hassle... It would be much nicer if SL calculated COGS when a report was run., not when both a vendor invoice and customer invoice are created. This would allow you sell items before all this foreign exchange rate was entered. and prevent the dreaded COGS out of order issue we all know about. Ultimately I'd like to see: 1) Exchange rate to be entered when an vendor invoice is posted, NOT before you even get a chance to enter the invoice's date. 2) Make SL capable of avoiding the whole thing altogether and only handle the PAYMENTS in foreign currency. Of course this would be for those who don't care about foreign exchange gain/loss 3) COGS dynamically calculated when a report is run, NOT when goods are sold. 4) Support for multiple exchange rates (to handle multiple foreign currency transactions done in a single day using multiple methods) |

Hello List, I've been running sql-ledger for a long time and just recently my invoices have started showing up with duplicate items when I view or print the invoice. This only happens with new invoices that I enter. All my older invoices show and print normal. This appeared to start after entering a cash receipt for a customers invoice that wasn't fully paid. Rather than applying the payment to the actual invoice sql-ledger created a separate blank transaction with only the payment. I also checked into the General Ledger transactions and I don't see the duplicates there, in fact everything appears to be fine. I do have backups and can try reverting to see if this resolves it, but I thought I would check with the list first to see if there is an easier way around it. Anyone have any ideas? -- Lenny Leblanc |
