Hi, i've to deploy sql-ledger to my company.. and i've read the manual, and changed some of the german translations. (if there is some intrest in this, to whom can i send them?) the number, like 'order number', 'Invoice Number', 'Quotation Number' .. are these generated automatic? or semi automatic? And how can this numbers controlled, so is it possible to change/jump number by year? or are these just counters? e.g. we want .. year 2006 starting by 1000 year 2007 starting by 5000 . . or year 2006 2006-<invoice number> year 2007 2007-<invoice number> . . I hadn't the time to experiment much (or look into the code), so this may be a silly question (and request). -- Florian Reitmeir |

Hi Jeff, Some time ago, I had to deal with .DBF files and I used the Perl modules in this link: http://search.cpan.org/search?query=DBF&mode=all There are more than one option so just try which one fits your need. You might have to write a short script to do this. jerome Jeff Roberts wrote: >Hello People > >My name is Jeff and I've been playing with SQL-Ledger for a few years >but have decided this year I'd get it fully running in my business >(electronic repair). Okay, good. That's what I did. I'm going to look at some of my older backups (from before I messed everything up) to see if I can find some values for the invoiceid and orderitemsid sequences and see what that does. Peter, I did the same a few days ago. see Enrique's comments. Was the SQL-Ledger the latest version or near latest? Hello People My name is Jeff and I've been playing with SQL-Ledger for a few years but have decided this year I'd get it fully running in my business (electronic repair). I've got it installed on a server running BSD 5.3 with PgSql 7.4.5 and Apache 2.0, everything seems to be running OK and I've already entered all of my GL accounts in. My next step is to import my customers, vendors and inventory items(services). I downloaded the import script but it says that I must have my data in tab delineated fixed length format and I'm having trouble finding a program that will save in fixed length format. My current data is in .DBF format and I've tried Paradox and Star Office 6.0 but neither gives an option to save in a fixed length. My workstation computers are Linux so a solution from EMS is out of the question, any suggestions? Jeff Roberts JR Electronics |

hi, thank you for the quick reply - meanwhile I found out myself: in templates/.../invoice.html I used a construct <%if fax%>kein Telefax which worked with 2.6.3. Even <%if fax%><!-- kein Telefax --> gives an error ;-)) Quite simple but not mentioned neither in debian changelog nor on sql-ledger.org. The one thing I did not find out was the following: selecting AR aging, selecting only overdue AR and trying to print / email all statements by selecting all and pressing print or email only prints/mails the first statement is this a bug or a feature? regards A. hi, when trying to process recurring transactions (to AR) I get Posting Ausgangsrechnung 7057 ..... fertig Sending Bitte um Bezahlung 7057Content-Type: text/html Error! Can't locate object method "kein" via package "Telefax" (perhaps you forgot to load "Telefax"?) at (eval 10) line 1. ..... fertig and nothing is sent via mail. last year (I think that was 2.6.3 prior to 2.6.19 / debian version) that worked. > You have to edit the backup and adjust the tables as per FAQ and add > WITH OIDS before you restore. You also have to add a "SELECT > SETVAL('sequence', sequencenumber);" after the "DROP SEQUENCE" lines > and remove the "DROP SEQUENCE" lines. Thank you Dieter. I did this and it has fixed the problem I had with printing assemblies. I made a new invoice just now, and when I ran a report for outstanding invoices for the client, two invoices were displayed, with the same invoice number, date, total, etc. When I opened one of them, I noticed that an old inventory item and payment were added to the invoice along with what I had entered. When I was editing the backup file, I had no trouble adding WITH OIDS to the correct locations, but when I was replacing the DROP SEQUENCE -- Pg-tables.sqlentries with SELECT SETVAL entries I only had a 'sequencenumber' for SEQUENCE id. The invoiceid and orderitemsid SEQUENCES each did not have one: ***Snip from backup file: ... DROP SEQUENCE id ; DROP SEQUENCE invoiceid ; DROP SEQUENCE orderitemsid ; -- ... ... -- Pg-tables.sql CREATE SEQUENCE id start 10000; SELECT nextval ('id'); CREATE SEQUENCE invoiceid; SELECT nextval ('invoiceid'); CREATE SEQUENCE orderitemsid MAXVALUE 100000 CYCLE; SELECT nextval ('orderitemsid'); ... ***End Snip from backup file. I put the following just after the DROP SEQUENCE entries, then deleted the DROP SEQUENCE entries: SELECT SETVAL('id',10000); SELECT SETVAL('invoiceid'); SELECT SETVAL('orderitemsid'); (So, the SELECT SETVAL entries are still above the '-- Pg-tables.sql' line.) Is the lack of a 'sequencenumber' for the invoiceid and orderitemsid SEQUENCES the cause of this problem? If so, how do I determine what values to put in? Jason Kay. |

The local line in pg_hba.conf only applies to connections through Unix sockets, not TCP/IP. My recommendation is to convert your local line to "md5" or "ident sameuser" and add a host line for 127.0.0.1/32 that sets md5 auth as a permissible manner with which you can connect to the SL database and as the SL db user. My dislike for trust is for security and data preservation reasons... don't see why non-dba Joe User or his confused cron job should be able to access the entire cluster. Also, if you have postgresql-server-7.4 installed, you could be querying the wrong cluster, so check the port numbers involved. Read the PostgreSQL documentation chapter about client authentication[1] for more details about how it works and how to correctly configure it for your needs. That resets your 'UNIX SOCKETS' locally so that PG recognizes them. You also need to set PG up to recognize you 'host' settings since it is a 'web app' look for the line below in /etc/postgresql/8.1/main/pg_hba.conf edit to your needs and place and uncommented copy in your /etc/postgresql/8.1/main/pg_hba.conf #IPV4 style local connections #host all all 127.0.0.1 255.255.255.255 trust You may also need to restart your your webserver as well as PG after making this change. found it. You have to edit the backup and adjust the tables as per FAQ and add WITH OIDS before you restore. You also have to add a "SELECT SETVAL('sequence', sequencenumber);" after the "DROP SEQUENCE" lines and remove the "DROP SEQUENCE" lines. -- Dieter Simader http://www.sql-ledger.com Tel: (780) 472-8161 DWS Systems Inc. Suggestion: Go to your backup of your SQL-Ledger data. copy. untar the copy if required. Grep for "orderitems" and locate "CREATE TABLE orderitems ( ....." as in the second item of the FAQ. Check it has the same format as in the FAQ and hand edit if necessary. Do the same for inventory and assembly. Also check your data that is the same as in the first item of the FAQ. Now restore using this modified data. It is important that you know how to backup, restore and drop a database in Postgres. It may be worth purchasing the O'Reilly book. A small price for valuable data. Adrian On 12/30/06, Jason Kay <ja...@no...> wrote: > Hello.
