Sorry, but to me equity is equity, and result previous year is result
previous year.
Weather that result is created by donations, gifts, or trade, it is a
result.

Why rename common used items thus creating unclear set of annual reports?
The naming of the ledgers themselve should be enough separation to clarify
any doubts I take it.

So the standard header Equity might show (with or without account nrs, tick
the box if wanted) Partnership Capital in one report, and Share Capital in
another report.

Just like assets may be machines in a factory environment, and cars in a
lease company.
You would not want to rename those as well i take it?

I made changes to the balance sheet  html template and wanted to know if
changes can be made  specifically to one company? If not what is the
best way to make changes to titles of account groupings in a financial
statement. For example, i have the books for both a non-profit and a for
profit entity and want to use "net assets" and " Partnership Capital"
respectively  to describe the equity section on the balance sheet. I
have made changes to the chart of accounts but on the balance sheet
report is says total equity etc. When I make changes to one entities it
is also made on the other.

I am a user and accountant not a programmer.

Hi,

1) Try leave from field open as well, see if amounts match then
2) If so, good!
3) This means you maybe entered an invvoice with e.g. date dec 12th 20007
(note the extra zero)

Now either find that invoice, or wait a few years ;-)

Ah, then all bets are off.  I hope your friend realizes Vista is  
nowhere near ready for use in a production environment.  (We have  
hundreds of clients of all sizes from under a dozen employees up to  
Fortune-100 and not a single one of them is even considering Vista.)

Hi,

Currently we are trying to close the accounts for the year 2007.

Checking through the accounts and noted that the amount shown on the,
AP/Report/Outstanding does not tally with the balance sheet report AP value.

Here is how the AP/Report/Outstanding report was generated.

1. When to AP/Report/Outstanding
2. Entered the "to" date field as 31 Dec 2007.
3. Let the "from" date field empty.
4. Took the total minus the paid.
5. Compared with the balance sheet report AP.

The two figures do not tally. The figures should tally, right?

The trial balance report balances out to zero.

Need help to find out where we have gone wrong. Most likely we have done
some data entry at the wrong place.

Where should we look for the error? Is there some section we should look
at first?

Don't know the answer to the first question, but for the second if  
you enter a partial number or description the next Update, (can also  
just hit Enter at the keyboard), will show a list of all possible  
matches so you can choose appropriately.
    And after items are chosen you're returned to the original  
invoice screen to carry on with the rest of it...

While creating sales invoices, I have 2 re-occurring use issues.  1)
Is there a way to easily remove line that was added in error.  At the
moment I have to blank out the Description, Number and Item then hit
update.  2) Is there a "quick look-up" feature to give me the ability
to, without leaving the invoice screen, find an item number to add it
to the invoice?

Just upgraded to Fedora 8 and now my sql-ledger gives the following error when I try to e-mail a purchase order.

The Error...

can occur when you accidentally restore a Sql-ledger dataset to the template1 database.
template1 is used as a starting point every time a new database is created.
Therefore, if you accidentally create/restore a sql-ledger dataset into template1, the id table is created in the template1 database and every single database thereafter.

Hope that makes sense.

Dieter's suggestion is: "change the expires field in the semaphore table 
to type integer".

[SL] Error in converting an offer to an order

Hello,

The actual version of sql-ledger that is in use is 2.8.13 and we are 
working with comma not
with decimal points.

When we have articles or services with a comma 113,50 for once piece 
after converting
an offer to an order.  The price of this item is converted to 1135,00.

No, 2 separate problems.
1- DB was created, tables also but weren't accessible, relation already
exist was true, but couldn't be modified.
2- existing datasets weren't displayed because the defaults table wasn't
owned by sql-ledger, thus making it impossible to delete datasets through
the menu.
