Hi David Very nice that you're interested in spyse, python and multi-agent systems. unfortunately, you're about 5 years late, as we have not worked on this framework since then... thanks for your interest and support, anyway, and good luck with finding an alternative. sorry, i have not checked out the alternatives recently and cannot be of much help in this respect. kind regards André On 14 February 2012 13:15, David S <ds8...@go...> wrote: > Thomas, > > Ah - thought so. Thomas, Ah - thought so. Where do the python codes who work on Multi-Agent Systems hang out? Or have they all learned Java? I have a need for a python friendly multi-agent framework and Spyse would have been ideal if it were more mature. So that I was considering contributing to the project. My initial thoughts had been to look at user documentation, (unit)testing and performance metrics (oddly enough all the tasks I'd need to do to get used to the code, decide whether it meets my needs, and be able to pull it into projects). Are you aware of a "living" multi-agent framework that either has python bindings or is written in an easy-to-interface-to language (i.e. C or C++)? Kind regards David |

Nope, Spyse has been dead for a few years now. Do you have an application for it? -- Thomas On Sat, Feb 11, 2012 at 21:25, David S <ds8...@go...> wrote: > Is spyse still under development? If so I am keen to lend a hand. > |

Hi again A while ago, I sent a list of people who were interested in Spyse in the past to Diego Andrés Sanabria Martin (diegueus9) <die...@gm...>. Hi All,
I'm still on the list. I've been working on Spyse in 2006 for my master project adding multi-threading support and allowing Spyse to run distributed (not sure how much of this funcionality has survived). At this moment I'm not activily using Spyse, but I'm still interested in any updates.

Hi Levi,
I'm also still on the list. I started playing around with SPYSE a bit - i did some research regarding agent based business simulations, especially for use inside of strategic business simulations. Didn't do much, but I'm still interested.

Hi Andre, it's a pleasure to meet you. Right now, my plans are to clean up and refactor the code to make it faster and easier to read, once we get the code cleaned up, we' can start adding new features as needed. Another thing I would like to do is make sure spyse works on python 3.x. I've also got a few project ideas where spyse will be useful.
As always, please feel free to Email me if you have any questions.

hi Levi
I just read and responded to the project takeover mail from SF. So, the takeover has already been activated ;-)
What are your plans with spyse? It was a nice project that I liked very much, but was abandoned due to change of jobs. There was a guy in Colombia who was still working with it, if you want his address.
good luck
André

The code in Subversion is in reasonably good shape. There was a TODO-for-1.0 list on the wiki but I can't remember all that was on the list. Given the circumstances, some items could be dropped from the list before releasing 1.0. Pretty much all the documentation we have is on the wiki. The wiki, maintained by Andre, has been offline for quite a while. I hope Andre will get the wiki back online or that he will transfer its contents to another party who can carry on maintaining it. -- Thomas Hood DECIS Lab |

The chief developer, Andre Meyer, has changed jobs and no longer develops RISK as part of his research. This has taken most of the steam out of the project. I have worked on Spyse in the past but I have no need for it at the moment. Nevertheless I am prepared to help with maintaining it if there is interest from other parties. Hi, I was wondering what happened to spyse. Its website does not respond (maybe it is a temporary problem) and there was no update on svn since 4 months, nor on the mailing list. Thanks you, Victor |

I took first steps with IronPython today. I downloaded the .zip archive to a Windows XP box and started up ipy, the IronPython console. The familiar Python command line interface appeared. Without further ado I was able to load modules from and execute the RISK simulator which I am developing on the same machine in C#. Cool! -- Thomas |
