I agree with not packaging GEF. This has been my biggest beef with MyEclipse. The fact that they install customized versions of core Eclipse plugins under higher version numbers seems like a real hack. I am going to go with Torsten's second option and include the Spring IDE core plugin in my standard distribution. Thanks for your help!
