In the time I used Struts I was a Tiles fan. It's a good thing to enable
its use in Spring, but I consider it not so dramatically useful as in
Struts. The Spring views definition allows a behaviour close to Tiles
although not completely so rich and with one indirection level less.

I am just a little frustrated since individual "attributesCSV"
properties cannot longer be redefined in "child" views. This was
possible until a month ago. With this feature we were very close to
Tiles.

Take a look at the "Countries" demo. You will see a construction letting
see a "Tiles like" approach.

In summary, my thought is:
- For small and middle layout complexity, the original possibilities of
Spring are largely sufficient.
- For complex layouts and large applications, Tiles adds managing
possibilities.
- The value of Tiles is not as great as in Struts, due to the better
views handling. But don't think it's no worth ;-).

Finally, adding Tiles improves the Spring scalability.
