[Springframework-developer] Hibernate and Many-to-Many

I am implementing a many-to-many relationship using Hibernate.  My solution
is up and running, but now I want to add a column to the "joining table"
(Book_User).  Where does this fit into the .hbm.xml file(s)?

Example:

Book <==> Book_User <==> User

Current Book_User Table:
Book_Id
User_Id

Book_User Table Modification:
Book_Id
User_Id
Usage

I need to know how and where to add the Usage column.
