The Sakai project that I am working on is quite big and there are plans
to upgrade to Spring 2.0 with the next major release.  However a lot of
schools will still use an older version of Sakai, which uses spring
v1.2.8.

Is Spring v2.0 fully backwards compatible with v1.2.8? For example, are
all the default bean values the same if they haven't been specifically
defined?

Is it possible to just use the spring-jmx-2.0.x with spring-core-1.2.x
etc.?
