[Springframework-developer] How to build Spring framework(Some problems when building it)

Hi,

I'm new with Spring framework. Recently I tried to get the source code of
Spring and do some experiment about my new idea.

I download "spring-framework-1.2.7-with-dependencies.zip" from the website
and tried to compile it with ant.

At first, I compile the framework with ant and the version of ant I used is
1.5, the I got this error: unexpected element "condition", I thought it's
because element "condition" should be placed inside a target. I modified "
build.xml" and I got some other errors.
Then I tried to build the framework with ant 1.6.5, The time of
process building it was very short(about 1 second). Seemingly I built it
successfully with the following message:

Actually ant did little thing when building spring and the old version of
the output was still there. I know that it takes several minutes or even
more to build spring,

Why It doesn't work well when I built spring and how should I do to build
it.
Which version of ant I shoud use to built it?
Is there any wiki page or some guide in the maillist? I have been finding
the solutions in the maillist for several hours but I got nothing.
