Mark, Are you saying you also have problems, or don't have any?

Yesterday was the first time anybody mentioned any consistent or 
repeatable speed issues accesing springframework.org. On investigation, 
it was his personal firewall which was blocking the javascript download 
for the rich wysiwyg editor used by the site.

We have had on very irregular occasions had problems due to web crawlers 
and the like, where some sort of robot proceeds to connect with 100-150 
separate connections at the same time (either because the robot is 
defective or more likely while trying to suck down all the content), and 
consequently makes the site unusable for most other users. Resolving 
this kind of thing is a matter of installing some sort of throttling 
capability in Apache or at the routing level, so that one source can't 
monopolize the site.
