I didn't look at the code in the Jira issue, but given that Spring already includes a couple of mechanisms to integrate with Struts, I'm not so sure that this shouldn't also be together with the existing code (and thus a part of Spring) if it's a pretty nice approach. It doesn't seem to make sense for us to ship a cuple of variants, but people have to go elsewhere for another one, especially if the other one is preferable...
