I'm currently trying to come to grips with maven. It's a rather 
unpleasant experience. There are the docs and a couple of articles, but 
still I constantly have the impression that I don't quite understand 
well enough how things work. Still I'm convinced that the effort will 
be worth it in the end.

Why? Because with Maven I hope to get several things
- a build environment standardized across projects
- projects that can be rebuild easily by anyone (so that they can fix 
bugs they've found)
- easy generation of a number of reports
