Good question... The Maven build script is less well maintained than the Ant
build, as we're just using Ant on our developer and nightly build machines
(as far as I'm aware).

I've updated project.xml and project.properties according to your JIRA issue
(SPR-627). Someone with a working Maven setup, please give the current CVS
contents a try, ideally before the 1.1.4 release (scheduled for tomorrow
evening)!

Why is maven.xml included in the project? It looks like it isn't used
by anyone, and althogh some properties are shared with ant in
project.properties, many are also missing and hardcoded in
build.xml...?
