Rob,

I find IDEA to be the one product that has single handily changed the
way I think about and write code. I've tried every other IDE for Java
and I just keep having to come back to IDEA.

Sure, the feature sets between it and Eclipse are pretty similar. But
to me, IDEA seems so much more "tighter" than Eclipse or others.

The biggest feature I use is the code navigation and keyboard
shortcuts. I rarely, if ever, have to reach for my mouse.

The other things I love are the intentions and inspections. The
ability to see where a variable is used (filterable by read access and
write access), where a method is used, where a class is used (even
searching through comments).

And the refactorings of course are beyond useful. 

As for me, I've setup Spring as a single Java Module, but I also don't
ever look at the sample web apps. If I did, I would set them up as
seperate modules, much like Jergen mentions in his setup.

I highly recommend you check out the forums for the EAP (Early Access
Program) at http://www.intellij.net/ . The lastest EAP has started,
which the buildup for 5.0 . The features for it are going to be good.
I'm most looking forward to Subversion and Perforce integration (
currently available as plugins, but in 5.0 will be provided by
JetBrains as a part of the IDEA release) .

I also highly recommend checking out the menu option
Help->Productivity Guide. It will show you all the cool features of
IDEA you aren't using and tells you how often you are using the ones
you do use.
